Wake up black folks, it's not our fault, Snoop Dogg don't define me! Don't tell me I should understand, when Don Imus under minds me! Just because 50 Cent says "nigga" doesn't mean I shouldn't feel degraded, When Kramer says "He's A Nigger" - please! You dog on right I hate it! Don't feel guilty for being insulted cause they "claim" there's a double standard. Because as soon as you do, they snigger at you - but they do so underhanded. Truth is, there is no double standard, they get as angry as we get! Instead they don't march on Washington, they'd rather leave you a death threat! And you better take heed, cause the threat is real, they'll kill you on the spot. It doesn't matter how smart you are, or how much cash you've got. Deep down they'd love to call you everything inside the book. But the punishment is worse than the crime, and that’s what has them shook. So they ask, "Why can you say the word, but if I say it you get upset?" Next time ask, "Why do you want to say it?", and watch how red they get. It's true we keep the word alive, that's an issue we need to face, Cause "we're the only race, that embraces our disgrace". But please don't feed me rhetoric about "it's the rapper's fault." Cause they've been calling us the n-word, since cotton was white as salt.

The piece that introduced me to Ol' Skool! Well there was My Son's Mother's Girlfriend's Boyfriend's Uncle; but this is the second first. I love this:
So they ask, "Why can you say the word, but if I say it you get upset?" Next time ask, "Why do you want to say it?", and watch how red they get. It's true we keep the word alive, that's an issue we need to face, Cause "we're the only race, that embraces our disgrace". But please don't feed me rhetoric about "it's the rapper's fault." Cause they've been calling us the n-word, since cotton was white as salt.
And the court rests it's case. Very provocative piece Ol' Skool...
Much love,
Hidden

its hard for me to read anything with such exigent narrative... not being at all racially discriminative in any way to anybody. it hurts to know people are still like this, and pains me even more to know it casts others in such a bad light. i have had a Portuguese man come up to me in the street before, because i looked and smiled at him, baring in mind i smile at everyone who looks at me, he started shouting at me saying things like "who the **** do you think you are you ******* ****, lookin at me with such animosity like im some **** on the soul of your foot, **** you, english ****" more or less... i paused and looked into his eyes, and i said, "delay your pre-conceived illusions that i am in any way in want of being hostile to you, if the actions of myself looking and smiling your way, evoke such belligerence within your heart, what would you do if Gandhi reached out his hand, and asked for yours in return? hit him with a verbal ensemble of insolence?" i proceeded to walk off. i saw him again a few months later, smiled at him, he sheepishly smiled back, i hope he knows a gesture of endearment when he is confronted with one next time...
peace to all...

a great piece!
but lets not let society hoodwink us into thinkin the use of the word nigga is the last great obstacle to social equality. it is a hurdle we need to get past, but as jena 6, megan williams and other issues can attest to, we still have other atrocities with much heavier importance that needs our attention.
the freedom to define ourselves is integral to us as a people, but lets not forget that america overall still does not include us in the way we once positively demanded.
