Unseen Silence…
5/18/08 - Lotus Lion
you...an undefined essence
spring sizzling air
soft nuzzling my neck
tender tongue tipping
lightly my ear rim
slowly...unbraiding my hair
you the silent meandering
coco and mango incense
slyly unraveling my sensual defenses
leading with a fresh phantom slight touch
teasing taut nipple tips …
tenderly wind kissing
you yet bring me there
to places my heart, mind and body
have yet dared
we a loving remembering
that ever shadows me
a delightful, delicious reality
yet to be shared....
ever anticipating us to be
loving my
silent unseen

my
thoughts
in a
blunted reality
memory is lighter
smoking
shrubs of Emily
makes my eyes woozy,
like the eyes
of her
when
she was just baby
At the
playground,
Emily's
eyes
were too weak
to hold
the glare of sun.
so,
they played
peek.a.boo
behind open and closed
lids for fun
Even the dogs remember
when baby's eyes lacked physical strength,
stumbling
sight
crept upon
the beings of humans
and being human,
years crept upon baby
"I'm too old to read children's books,"
said Emily,
the 32 year old
who had special eyes for reading
She read ancient philosophy,
Shakespeare's collections,
feminist writings,
and James Baldwin
Her eyes retained
literature and traced them
on the sheets
of her mind
In the woods,
she chased
the breeze in
darkness
that mutilated the
moon shine that
toppled night's flesh
Her cold body was found
but her eyes...
well,
they were missing
Boyfriend,
in coffee shop,
looked, steady, wide-eyed gaze
at glass window,
light transmission,
and the passing
of detailed skeletons.
Had reconciliation
with yellow rays,
sun set in soul,
love he remembered.
emotion practiced
abstract art
and his smile, in elusive colors,
museum in air.
While his thoughts of
yesterday, lingered
with characteristic freshness
Richard
began reading
the letter, pulled
from pocket,
said "you have a package at the post office, it closes at 4:00."
Hot cocoa almost
spilled
cause hurry had to go
but
quick enough got there
pretty fast.
He sat the stamped box
on the table
and common sense agreed to open it
so, he did.
inside of the box,
was a glare and Emily's eyes.

poor richard,
fell backwards
and so did...
Losing
skin resilience,
asymmetrically,
the night fell,
disfiguring
spine
while
the children's
innocence
resident
their beings
Seeing
a man's
abnormalities
of ugly,
discarding
cigarette bud,
caused
them
to creep else where
but emily
responded to his
proximity,
uttering
the fact
of being nearer
He
erected posture
and
starred
into emily's eyes,
assessing
sexual maturity
matured
thought
had
over grown,
stretched
femur bone
in long-legged-idea,
stuck out of imagination,
and walked
emily's womb
to
play a game
for two,
then
turned
electric blue
in lustful mind
From behind,
the brick
knocked
the man down
Her cold body
laid distance, away
And
returned children
searched
the grass
for
misplaced
innocence
while
stuffing
emily's eyes
in their
back packs.

Straight From the Headlines!!!
Sean Bell shooting (all 3 officers acquitted)
In the early morning hours of Nov. 25, 2006, Sean Bell, a 23-year-old New York City man due to be married later that day, walked out of a Queens strip club, climbed into a gray Nissan Altima with two friends who had been celebrating with him - and died in a hail of 50 bullets fired by a group of five police officers.
The shooting shocked the city and brought back memories of the deaths in other high-profile police shootings - in particular, the death of Amadou Diallo, an African peddler killed after police fired 41 shots at him in 1999. Both men were black and both were unarmed, although in both cases the officers appeared to have believed the suspect had a gun. While the death of Mr. Bell did not prompt the same levels of rage and protest as the Diallo case, it prompted unsettling questions about the changes in police procedures adopted in recent years, and about whether black men remained unfairly singled out for aggressive police action.
On March 16, 2007, a Queens grand jury voted to indict three detectives in the case, charging the two who had fired the bulk of the shots,Detective Michael Oliver and Detective Gescard F. Isnora, with first-degree and second-degree manslaughter, and the third, Detective Marc Cooper, with reckless endangerment.
The three pleaded not guilty, and in the days before the trial began on Feb. 25, 2008, defense lawyers made clear that they were going to concentrate on potential justification for the first two shots fired by Detectives Oliver and Isnora. In particular, they were expected to focus on evidence that Mr. Bell was intoxicated and on a statement by one of Mr. Bell's companion that there had been talk outside the nightclub that someone had a gun. The officers have said they followed Mr. Bell and his companions in the belief that they were going to retrieve a gun following a dispute outside the club.
During the trial, defense lawyers pointed to forensic evidence that suggested that the firing only began after Mr. Bell rammed his car into an unmarked police van. They also accused Mr. Bell's companions of lying on the witness stand.
On April 25, 2008, Justice Arthur J. Cooperman, who heard the case alone after the detectives waived their right to a jury, acquitted all three men of all the charges against them. -- April 25, 2008
Justified or justice blind? You decide... This is not an isolated incident, unfortunately this is usually the outcome. Do the police have a right to shoot first then ask questions or should they be more careful when pulling for that weapon? What would you do in that situation, if in fact you were 1 of the officers and felt threatened? They say better safe than sorry, but explain that to the daughter of a now deceased father, mother of a dead son, wife of a lifeless husband. What are your thoughts? Speak on it in Straight From The Headlines located in the Oasis Lounge.
