Below is one of our favorite original poems from our sister in poetry, Echo! Enjoy Fam...
Forgetful
Drink induced laughter felt so innocent this time
Recognizable feelings.. although watered down, reproduce from my shot glass
COMBINE
Emotion drenched tonics sliming my heart
Feeling romantic feelings from the start
Wearily I know you will figure me out
Cart my bones back to bed in the morning
Leaving no time to disguise loves lies
Unsolved mysteries I don't dare find out...
But those cries of passion still linger on my lips
Who are waiting to spit...
Kisses on your lips..
Like salty ocean grits..
You'll taste me
A tide swelled over me like the previous ship I wrecked
My soul's already docked in a harbor miskept
I'm forgetful
-Echo
BabyGirl's Scribe of the Month:
newness
newness
Scribed by: Queen Warrior
you inspire me to create a new form of poetry
something more liberated than freeverse
because/ i don't seek to contain you
my new friend
not tryna label our thing
before the kindred we share
has a chance to grow
before/our newness manifests sweetness
with every kiss
every kind word
every mindful gesture you bring
this affection surrenders any walls
we can put up to protect love's we both desire
yet walk a slow walk
to ensure this connection ain't clouded
by heartache & wrong-doings experienced
before we existed to each other.
beaming sun, you make my moon rise
and i refuse to let this freshness go
for you/or me
i'll only allow our growing love to roam
free
for it is destined to return
as you do each day
to our thing
making me mo' better.
love
come
down
on
me
/hard.
mmmmm newness
aaaaah newness
yes

after doing her chores
the whore was sure
she would be rewarded
with a sunday off
scores of sins to be acounted for
-pennance would cost-
so she went to church
but swore she did more dirty work
on creeky knees
repenting
in hopes of replenshing
completeing/recovering/finishing
rigging
what she felt had been lost
repairing rips with unsentimental
tucks & nips
frequent fucks -role play -chains -whips
incense, pseudonyms, costumes
to mask conceal & perfume
the soiled tattered patches
from septic scratches
where her soul was stripped
yet to the masses
those -self-righteous-asses-
benefits
were hard to see
.::moral qualities proved to be::.

evasive like an eclipsed sun
so much finger pointing & preaching
goin on that even she had begun
to see her self as unclean
.::.pity if u ask me::.
view became askew
distorted - twisted - conflicted -
similar in resemblence to those of u
whose eyes have been infected
taking on the side of the new
changing the color of their originally intended hue
trying so hard to fit in
her visionary
vision
was blurry
rotting fruits she was guaranteed
to reap
curly lashes bounced on soft eyelids
when she squinted
demented ideas circled her mind like hawks
emotions floated in figure eights
while her spirit silently watched
what her pen would later narrate.........
sinful seeds sown in summers end season
validify winterized feelings
blown with judgemental breath
signify cold means
justified by endless reasons
represents wilted petals of a flowers death
soul savin can be quite the guilt ridden experience
but among the open hearted - minded
MY kind of corrupted existence
is kindred to the very ones
to whom we seek forgiveness

Peace Poets,
The Writer's Workshop is designed to answer any writing questions you may have. You can request feedback by posting your scribe here, with the subject Tutor Request, or by sending the tutor of your choice a PM (Personal Message).
In the Oasis we strive to grow together poetically. We want everyone here to reach their highest literary potential. Questions pertaining to Spoken Word are also welcome.
Feel free to post any tips you may have that will benefit the growth of your fellow Poets in the sub-board Tips & Suggestions!
Though poetry should flow from the heart, there are techniques that may enable your heart's thoughts, as well as your mind's, to flow more fluidly. The Writer's Workshop is for those of us that are serious about perfecting our craft, and want honest, beneficial feedback; so let's take it to the next level of perfection!
Come check out the many writing exercises we've posted to help us perfect our craft!
