You Got Me
There was a point in time when
I couldn’t fathom the possibility of
you and me and monogamy and
possibly strolling downtown
enjoying the sights of the windy city.
See, you got me hopelessly falling into euphoria
Our love, not the exception, but the rule
I loose my cool every time you caress me
With your kisses you bless me
And your sexuality arouses me
with the feelings of L-O-V…
I hesitate to complete, but eventually
your sensuality will
Compel me to come from behind the wall and
On my knee I’ll fall and commit to thee in sacred vows
In front of a small crowd of friends and family
So, again you got me like spearmint bubblegum
stuck to the sole of your shoe
Or captivated like the gloss and spin of a 22 inch rim
Glistenin' in the eye of a hood rat
waiting to be trapped
But the fact is
just the mere notion of us
sends convulsions down my spine and
sets words to rhyme and
I watch the time more closely in
hopes to see me in your eye.
You are my inspiration for greatness
Your capacity for compassion is sentimentally sweet.
And I thank God that it’s me with
The opportunity to be the
Object of your affection
I see you’re afraid
But don’t be
I’ve already entertained the idea of us and our family
You are much more than a fly by night
Instead like John Mayer said,
“I’ll never let your head hit the bed without my hand behind it”
And if you loose your way I’ll help you find it
So, one more time
You got me
You had me when you mentioned that
Our friendship was more than it was
And because of my cool
I was intimidated
But with one kiss
I was inebriated
And we had a celebration for
What was already in the making
The transition was so easy and
Here is where I want to be
So, if I haven’t already convinced you
then here it is
You got me
Mind Soul and body

PoeticRebellion's Scribe of the Month:
Trapped.

Until red bleeds into earth birthing renewal next lifetime
and eyes seek prisms of microscopic embers that refused to die
I'll sit...
Transfixed at the way his wrist flicks remnants of cancer sticks
Watching those ashes remembering the monumental risk
Of allowing myself to be inhaled into the life of a god
lacerated on the shards of my own broken heart
Until red bleeds into earth birthing renewal next lifetime
and eyes seek prisms of microscopic embers that refused to die
I'll sit...
Transfixed at the way his wrist flicks remnants of cancer sticks
Watching those ashes remembering the monumental risk
Of allowing myself to be inhaled into the life of a god
lacerated on the shards of my own broken heart

Musement of The Month: Sekhem (U Googled)
I am Sekhem
I can leisurely strut in a firery breeze
deep breathing the heat of my Lion ancestry
Cause Raaaaah! is my Daddy
I am here to take the heat
and raise it too if need
the battle for Ma'at my pedigree
bringer of blisters, boils, and twisting fevers
and
the gentle head soother, subtle swayer of hearts
and love to the bones healer
Just Cause... it pleases me
I am Sekhem Reiki
will walk with you
as you boldly step to
all untruths of you unworthy friend
and shine quietly red
till you see and remember again
all Mother/Father's abundance given
and infinite possibilities
....want the strength of true foundation
my glare of power is not your enemy
let me show you what you need
break you down Black
rebuild you up in Red
better, stronger, wiser....
ready for the truth
your divine destiny
....and sometimes I just purrrrrrrrrrr....
a whole 'notha storyThe

Straight From the Headlines!!!
Harvard Professor Arrested
President Barack Obama displayed the calm of Star Trek's Mr. Spock during his press conference on health care, carefully picking his way through Congress' dense reform packages. But when he got asked about the alleged racial profiling this week of black Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr., Mr. Obama was all emotion, channeling the rashness of "Bones" McCoy.
Cambridge police acted "stupidly," the president said — a snap determination from a constitutional scholar who should know a thing or two about due process. Turns out the arresting officer instructs recruits on how to avoid racial profiling.
Racial profiling is a horrible act that has no place in a just society. But it remains to be seen whether what happened to Mr. Gates qualifies. Mr. Obama ought not to have passed judgment.
What are your thoughts? Speak on it in Straight From The Headlines located in the Oasis Lounge.
